SCIENCE COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST
About Me
As a passionate science writer and educator, I make complex biological concepts accessible for audiences of different ages and backgrounds. I am a graduate of Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in English, a minor in integrative biology, and more than five years of experience in science communication and education, journalism, and outdoor leadership.
Specialties
Science Writing
The Hubbard Brook Research Foundation’s Young Voices of Science program and a semester-long narrative science journalism workshop with renowned science writer Michael Pollan have equipped me with effective methods for scientific storytelling. I’ve put these skills into practice to cover plant science, conservation, and climate change for organizations including the National Park Service and World Wildlife Fund. Check out some of my favorite stories.
Outdoor Leadership and Education
At Acadia National Park, I lead experiential learning programs for 5th-8th grade students in the multi-day Schoodic Education Adventure program, blending outdoor fieldwork with classroom activities to foster curiosity, scientific literacy, and environmental stewardship. As a guide for DC’s chapter of the National Audubon Society, I hosted local birding events, outdoor skills workshops, and camping trips with an emphasis on accessibility and inclusion. In college, I spent four years organizing day hikes and overnight backpacking trips for students as a leader in the Harvard Outing Club.
Proofreading and Editing
I volunteer with Environmental History Now to review and revise essay submissions showcasing the environmental work and expertise of graduate students and early-career scholars across the globe. At Foster Medical Editorial, Inc., I proofread content for major New York hospitals and often caught mistakes that went unnoticed in prior rounds of review by medical professionals and marketing staff.
Graphic Design
I used Adobe Creative Suite to design scavenger hunts for Green Cambridge’s Wildlife Arts program, merchandise for First Village Coffee and the DC Bird Alliance, as well as social media posts and one-pagers for the Smart Surfaces Coalition.
